Specialized Bar
This is Dennis’ favorite workout barbell. It was hand made by Patina Metals, then chromed. As you can see, the majority of the bar is very thick and it has a 1” handle in the center. It is heavy walled, yet hollow, to allow shot to be added to increase the weight.
Dennis enjoys doing one-arm snatches with the bar, and his favorite exercise for the wrist- his lever wrist curls. Lever wrist curls are performed by adding a small amount of extra weight to one side of the bar to throw the barbell off-balance when performing standard wrist curls. Fighting to balance the bar when curling the weight really hits the wrists and forearms in a unique way. In fact, putting additional weight on the thumb side of the bar is a great way for an arm-wrestler to build the power he/she needs to top-roll a tough opponent’s wrist.
